Four goals out of the stick of
Michael McKenzie and hat tricks from
Davis Cooke and
Tyler Banfield helped Berry earn a victory on the road, 11-6, over Goucher in Baltimore, Md., Saturday afternoon.
A close game for most of the contest, the Vikings broke open a 6-5 game entering the fourth quarter with a 5-1 frame. McKenzie scored the first goal of the quarter 100 seconds in to make it 7-5. Banfield rifled home a shot to make it 8-5 90 seconds later. While the hosts would cut it to two with 9:18 to go, it would be the final tally of the day for Goucher. Two Cooke goals were bookended by a McKenzie tally as the Vikings put away a win.
Nick English was solid on the X again, winning 16-of-20 faceoffs to help the Vikings maintain possession. The Vikings picked up 33 ground balls, led by English's eight, with
Tim Salisbury and
Jackson Kaeter each adding four. Berry out-shot the Gophers 46-19 in the contest.
Berry will be back home this Friday to face Bridgewater with faceoff set for 3 p.m.
