Equestrian Drops to Sewanee in NCEA Event

SEWANEE, Tenn. - The Vikings kicked off their NCEA Jumping Seat debut this season against Sewanee, where they fell 6-2. Fences Results: - Meaghan Kursman fell by five points to her competitor 85-80 on horse Cocoa to give Sewanee their first point. - Marcelene Leverett claimed a point for the Vikings with another tight score of 80-78. - Ellie Weinreb and Emily Sudderth fell short before the Vikings headed to the Flat competition down 3-1. Flat Results: - Emily Sudderth had a heartbreaker in the flat with a one point difference to boost the Tigers to 4-1 (66-65). - Ellie Weinreb held the only other Viking victory with a 66-63 win over her competitor on Carlson. - Meaghan Kursman and Marcelene Leverett held tough in their competitions but it was not enough to overcome the Tigers of Sewanee. Overall, Berry fell with a combined score of 587 to Sewanee's 623. The Vikings will be back in action after the Holiday break at Auburn University on January 27th.
