Game Recap: Women's Soccer | | by Derek Black

Vikings Hang Tough Versus BSC

The Berry College Vikings Women's Soccer team came out strong. Still, it would earn a 0-0 draw against conference opponent Birmingham Southern College Sunday at Bob Pearson Field.

The Vikings and the Panthers had several scoring opportunities. Still, neither squad was able to find the back of the net. The contest played back and forth as the final minutes ticked off the clock, with both teams heading into halftime scoreless. The Panthers kept pace as the Vikings gave up no ground in the second half to end the match in a draw.

The Vikings keeper, Maggie Jones, would finish the game with 3 saves, recording her 5th clean sheet of the season. The Vikings would outshoot the Panthers 10-4 but could not beat the Panthers keeper, Grace Elsevier, who would finish the day with 6 saves.

The contest marked Berry's last regular season game at Bob Pearson Field, and it took time to recognize four seniors who helped grow the program for the last four years. A ceremony was held between the men's and women's games to recognize Maeve Mcdougal, Sophia Coon, Kendall Varitek, and Chistina Marijanich.

The Vikings will travel to Conway, Ark., to take on Hendrix College Friday.
