MOUNT BERRY, Ga.- The No.24-ranked Berry Vikings (7-1, 5-1 SAA) defeated Southern Athletic Association foe Hendrix 53-6 on Saturday afternoon at Valhalla Stadium.
Â
Brock Skinner tipped a pass and intercepted the ball on the Warriors first drive, but on the very next play,
Blake Hembree's pass was intercepted putting the ball back right where Hendrix left off. But the Viking defense came up with a big stop to force a Hendrix punt.
Brandon Cade and
Colby Sikes led the offense down the field with two big gains each, which was finished by Cade for a 4-yard touchdown.
The duo of running backs continued their dominance as Sikes ran in a 52-yard touchdown to finish off the first quarter.
Hendrix answered to start the second quarter with a touchdown of their own, but the two-point conversion was stopped by the Viking defense. On the first play of the next drive, Cade broke multiple tackles for another massive gain and scored his third touchdown of the day, this time picking up 58 yards.
Cade continued to poke holes in the Warrior defense when he zoomed past the defense for a 65 yard touchdown. The junior running back averaged 26 yards per carry on eight attempts in the first half. The Berry offense concluded the first half with a Hembree to
Nate Lyons connection adding another six on the board. Berry went into the locker room leading 43-6.Â
Â
Five minutes into the second half, Skinner picked off his second interception of the day, and returned the ball for a 90-yard pick six.
Charlie Bell tacked on the final three points of the game for the Vikings with a 37-yard field goal.
Â
Cade ended the day with 200 rushing yards and Sikes with 162.
