The seven seeded Berry College Vikings (5-6-5, 1-3-3 SAA) fell to second seeded Rhodes College (10-1-3, 5-0-2) in the first round of Southern Athletic Association tournament play on Saturday by a score of 3-1.
Rhodes started the scoring in the 16 minute when Jesus Tadeo scored an unassisted goal for the Lynx, Tadeo's shot was one of 11 shots by Rhodes in the first half, four of which were saved by Vikings keeper Jose Palacios.
Berry equalized in the second half thanks to Dylan Bloch's 5th goal of the year in the 55 minute of the game.
The final whistle of regular time saw both teams tied at one goal apiece and the game was sent into overtime with a spot in the second round of the SAA playoffs on the line.
Rhodes dominated Berry in extra time, outshooting them 5-2 and scoring twice. Jackson Theron scored in the 99 minute breaking the tie for Rhodes. In the 108 minute Jesus Tadeo scored his second goal of the game thanks to an assist from Jason Viani.
Rhodes went on to win 3-1 and moves on to the second round of the SAA playoffs.
The Vikings wrap up their season at 5-7-5 overall and finish seventh in SAA regular season standings.
