MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Due to potential threats posed by Hurricane Ian, Berry's Southern Athletic Association soccer doubleheader has been shifted from Saturday to Friday. The doubleheader will now begin at 3:30 p.m. Friday with the men's contest, followed by the women's contest at 5:30 p.m.
The two teams were originally scheduled to compete Saturday with the doubleheader beginning at noon. However, there is potential for heavy rains to hit the Mount Berry area, which would make Bob Pearson Field unsafe. Therefore, the two schools worked in concert to move the doubleheader to an earlier time when the storm's affects could be minimized.
Berry's men's soccer team enters at 5-1-3, having defeated LaGrange on Sunday. Centre sits at 0-7-2, having taken a 1-0 loss to Berea Monday. Both teams dropped their SAA openers over the weekend.
Berry's women are 5-3, victors in their last time out over Sewanee, 1-0, to start SAA play. Meanwhile, Centre is ranked No. 20 in the latest United Soccer Coaches poll and sit at 9-1 following a 4-0 win over Asbury Tuesday.
