Box Score No. 2-seeded Berry Vikings women's tennis season came to a heartbreaking end on Saturday after losing in a close 5-4 match against No. 3-seeded Rhodes College in the Southern Athletic Association conference championship tournament.
In her last singles match as a Viking,
Allison Ivey capped off her undefeated conference singles run with a 6-3, 6-0 win in line one. Ivey, along with
Juliana Mascagni, would sweep their opponent in line one of the doubles competition.
In a day full of tie-breaking rounds,
Juliana Mascagni made a comeback in the second set of line two with a 6-4 win. Mascagni would go on to repeat this result in her tie-breaking round to secure the point for the Vikings.
The same would happen for
Lauren Masteller, who tied line five up with a 6-2 score in the second set. Masteller would play a close match in her tie-breaking round, but ultimately got the job done with a 7-6 win.
The Vikings finish the season with an 11-5 overall record and a 6-2 conference record. The Vikings will be losing Ivey and
Kathryn Barker to graduation, the team can look forward to repeating and building on the success that they saw this season.
