Berry's men's tennis team will look to pull an upset Friday morning as the Vikings play Oglethorpe to start the Southern Athletic Association Championships in Murfreesboro, Tenn., at 11 a.m. EDT.
The Vikings enter the tournament as the No. 7 seed and will face the No. 2 seed Stormy Petrels. The two teams met in Rome, Ga., March 5 at the Rome Tennis Center. Berry won at the top doubles line on that day, 8-6, and earned a win at the top singles line from
Noah Koch, 7-6, 6-3. However, Oglethorpe would go on to win the day by a final of 7-2.
In a year in which the Vikings have had many new faces take the court for the first time, Berry is 1-6 in SAA play. The lone win came at home over Hendrix 7-2 April 3.
A win for the Vikings would move them into the semifinal round Saturday against the winner between Centre and Millsaps.
