Berry's women's tennis team came out strong Saturday morning at the Rome Tennis Center, topping Southern Athletic Association foe Rhodes, 9-0, to pick up a key conference win.
While the Vikings (6-3, 2-0 SAA) won every match, not every match was won in straight sets. Berry had to battle to win two matches in super-tiebreakers in the third set, but still managed to come out on top.
Allison Ivey and
Juliana Mascagni set the tone by taking No. 1 doubles, 8-2.
Kathryn Barker and
Lauren Masteller would win No. 2 doubles, with
Adelle Yanez and
Emma Kruger at No. 3 doubles winning their match as both teams had matching 8-4 scores.
Ivey would pick up a straight-set victory at No. 1 singles, with Yanez, Masteller, and Kruger winning at No.'s 4, 5, and 6 singles, respectively. Mascagni and Barker, playing at No. 2 and No. 3 singles respectively, each needed a super-tiebreak but picked up wins to complete the sweep.
Berry will be back in action Saturday when Hendrix visits for an SAA showdown at 9 a.m.
