Berry's women's lacrosse team defeated Hendrix 21-7 Saturday afternoon in Conway, Ark., to secure their first winning season since 2015.
Hendrix (0-9, 0-4) started out hot, scoring two straight. However, the Vikings (8-2, 2-1 SAA) would net three in a row, two coming from Adrienna Van Solen and one from
Haley Larsen. Hendrix would then net one more, but
Molley Cross and
Charlotte Concilio would sneak two past to make the score 5-3 heading into the 2nd.
Berry really started to get going in the second, outsourcing the Warriors 9-1 with goals coming from six different Vikings. The Vikings would head into halftime with a 14-4 lead.
Berry would pick up right where they left on in the third outscoring the Warriors 5-2 with three of those coming from
Abby Sprayberry. The Vikings would hold on to a commanding lead of 19-6 after 45 minutes.
In the fourth, Hendrix would tack in their final goal with 5:30 left to play in the game and Sprayberry would fire in two goals as the final score would read 21-7.
Sprayberry would lead all scorers for the Vikings with six and Van Soelen would throw in five of her own.
Alexa Medor and
AnnaKate Estock would each record three assists. As a team, the Vikings went 6-of-11 on free position shots. Berry would cause 10 of Hendrix's 17 turnovers.
On the defensive side,
Ally Washburn would tally six total saves for the Vikings.
The Vikings next game will be in Mount Berry, next Saturday, April 2nd, at 1 p.m. where they will take on the visiting Sewanee Tigers.
