Vikings Improve To 3-0 Rallying Over Bridgewater

The Berry Vikings volleyball team hit the road to Lexington Va., where they were scheduled to play two teams, Marietta and Bridgewater, on the first day of the Washington & Lee tournament Friday afternoon.

Following the cancellation of the Marietta game, due to not enough players coming to compete, the Vikings took on Bridgewater in a four-set battle that saw Berry overcome an opening-set loss to hand the Eagles a 3-1 defeat.

The win improves the Vikings to 3-0 overall.

After Bridgewater broke out to a 25-15 first-set win, the Vikings were determined to turn the game around and did just that as Berry swept the next three sets 25-17, 25-15 and 25-21, to seal the win.

Jazzy Innis was the attacking leader of the match for Berry with 11 kills, followed by Molly Bergin with 10 kills. Emily Rapach dominated the match setting up 42 assists, and Laura Beier took charge of the defense with 31 digs.

The Vikings are back in action Saturday as Berry takes on Southern Virginia at 11 a.m., followed by a game against Washington and Lee at 1:30pm.
