Box Score Berry's men made the most of a pressuring offensive attack and a stingy defensive effort as the Vikings took a 3-0 win in their season opener over host Piedmont on Wednesday night in Demorest, Ga.
Zach Ernst gave Berry the lead scoring off a corner kick nearly 20 minutes into the contest, while
Nathan Carlson capped the scoring output with a pair of goals in the second half, the first when he split a pair of Piedmont defenders to find the back of the net at the 69:16 mark and the second coming with just over 13 minutes left to play thanks to Ernst, who for the assist when he fed Carlson a long ball that closed out the scoring.
Berry finished the night outshooting Piedmont 17-8 with the Vikings' defense giving up just two shots on goal that were saved by keeper Jose Palacios.
