Mitch Cole Steps Down as Men's Basketball Head Coach

Rome, Ga. - Mitch Cole named Associate Head Men's Basketball Coach at Samford University.

Berry College announced the transition of Head Men's Basketball Coach, Mitch Cole. Coach Cole will be heading to Division I, Samford University.

"We've built life-long relationships at Berry. It's been an honor to serve alongside the outstanding coaches in our department who have become valued friends. Most of all I've had the privilege of working with some of the finest young men I've ever coached" stated Cole.

Cole leaves the Vikings after coaching here since 2018 and in 2020-2021, he led the Vikings to a regular season and SAA championship. On behalf of Berry College and the Athletic Department we want to thank Coach Cole for all he has done for the program and wish him the best with his future endeavors.

"We wish the Cole family the best of luck in their next chapter" state Angel Mason, Director of Athletics. "We are very proud of what this program has accomplished under Coach Cole's leadership. This program has a great future with strong player leadership".

However, the 2021-2022 season will have no shortage of action, as many familiar faces will be returning and looking to become back-to-back SAA Champions. SAA Newcomer of the Year, Michael Johnson, First Team All-SAA Center, Austin Brooks, SAA All-Tournament Team Member, Chase Ellis, among many more veteran players will all be returning next year for the Vikings.
