Men's Basketball Stifled by Lynx in Regular Season Finale

Memphis, Tenn. The Vikings faced the Rhodes Lynx Saturday afternoon, falling 78-94. The Vikings displayed a valiant effort despite not coming away with a win.

Nile King was phenomenal with 22 points and 5 rebounds to go along with 2 blocks and 3 steals defensively. Freshman Isaac Plavich stepped up for some big buckets as he poured in 15. Isaac Martin rounded out the double-digit scoring with 11 points on three made three-pointers.

The first half started out explosive for the Vikings, setting the tone with an early 5-0 run. Coming out of a dominant offensive start from Issac Martin and Nile KIng, the Lynx answered back with a slew of free throws. The pressure was now set on the Vikings, with the Lynx taking the lead 5-6. Junior Issac Martin embraced his inner James Harden in response to this pressure, tying the matchup 8-8.

After a daring run by the Lynx, their lead was stretched to 10. Soon after, Nile King and Khamani Paxton weathered the storm with buckets of their own. Later, the Vikings displayed great persistence, not letting up despite trailing. Throughout the first half, Issac Plavich, Mason Lawrence, and Cameron Pope put on a show with cinematic buckets. One highlight-worthy moment included Nile King showing the Rhodes crowd his inner "Shaq" with a hefty slam. The Vikings ended the first half down 34-57.

Entering the second half, the Rhodes home crowd was as energetic as ever, creating mounting tension for the Vikings. Plavich and Smith came out of the gate with pressure setting buckets, not showing any signs of letting up. With around 14 minutes to go in the 2nd, Issac Martin and Ryan Luttrell began applying serious pressure to this Lynx squad. Big time buckets followed from King and Plavich, closing the deficit to 11. As the game winded down, Rhodes was able to wear the Vikings down with steady offensive production.

After a valiant effort from the Vikings on the road, the Lynx beat them out 78-94.
