Rome, Ga. - Berry College's baseball coach,
David Beasley, announced the 2021-22 newcomers today.
A brief bio of each student-athlete can be found below.
Eli Agosto
(Catcher, 5-10, Cornelius, North Carolina, Lake Norman Charter School)
Agosto joins the Vikings after an impressive senior season. Agosto swam and played baseball in high school where he played in the state title game for baseball and posted a .286 batting average.
The son of Lou and April Agosto, he plans to major in business.
Tyler Cassidy
(Pitcher and Outfield, 5-11, Orlando, Florida, Freedom High School)
Cassidy comes to the Vikings as an OCPS All-Metro East Conference Selection in 2020 and the OCPS All-Metro Academic Player of the year in 2021.
The son of Regina and Todd Cassidy, he plans to major in pre-med.
Joey Garcia
(Infield, 6-0, Atlanta, Georgia, Lakeside high School)
Garcia comes to Berry, after being named All-Region second team, and also being a two-time All-Region first-team selection in high school. Garcia was voted Region Pitcher of the Year and DeKalb County Player of the Year. Garcia also broke school records for most pitching wins and strikeouts in a season.
The son of Michael and Amy Garcia, he remains undecided on a major.
Jackson Halla
(Pitcher, 6-4, Vestavia, Alabama, Vestavia Hills High School)
Halla comes to Berry after playing Varsity for two seasons. In his senior season, Halla led his team in total appearances.
The son of Julie and Ryan Halla, he plans to get a dual degree in engineering.
Daniel Jones
(Pitcher, 6-0, Charlotte, North Carolina, Carmel Christian High School)
Jones joins the Vikings after being first in his state ranking before the season ended early due to Covid-19. Jones also has led his teams to the sweet sixteen, final four and state championship.
The son of Vicki and Scott Jones, he plans to major in business.
Clifford Pless III
(Outfield, 5-11, Bonaire, Georgia, Veterans High School)
Pless joins the Vikings after leading his team to the Elite Eight. Pless has been an All-Region selection for the last three seasons. Pless will add serious speed to this Vikings outfield.
The son of Jacqueline and Clifford Pless Jr., he plans to major in environmental science.
Caleb Spikes
(Outfield, 6-0, Dacula, Georgia, Mill Creek High School)
Spikes joins the Vikings after leading his team to both a region championship and advancing to the Sweet 16 in his senior year. Spikes played both football and baseball in highschool.
The son of Carlos and Markita Spikes, he plans to major in engineering.
Jaiden Stowers
(Outfield, 5-9, Auburn, Georgia, Hebron Christian Academy)
Stowers comes to Berry as a multi-sport athlete, he will play both baseball and football for the Vikings. Stowers was selected as an All-Region utility man. Stowers batted .375 and had an on base percentage of .489.
The son of Johana and Christopher Stowers, he plans to major in exercise science.
CJ Whaley
(Pitcher, First Base, Outfield, 6-3, Kennesaw, Georgia, Kennesaw Mountain High School)
Whaley comes to Berry after being honored with KMHS's Baseball Rising Star Award, MVP Award, first-team All-Region 6A, and competing in the Georgia State baseball playoffs. As a senior, Whaley batted .344 with two home runs and 25 RBI's.
The son of Chuck and Jana Whaley, he remains undecided on a major.
Jake Wohlers
(Pitcher, 6-7, Woodstock, Georgia, The King's Academy)
Wohlers joins the Vikings after being both an All-State and All-Region selection his senior season. Wohlers helped lead his team to back-to-back state titles in 2018 and 2019.
The son of Mark and Kimberly Wohlers, he plans to major in pre-med.
