Volleyball Sweeps Millsaps to Start Season 2-0

Jackson, Miss. – The Berry College volleyball team had no trouble opening the season 2-0, as they took care of Millsaps in straight sets in game one and in four sets in game two. '

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Game 1

·         Berry took set one 25-21 after Millsaps threatened halfway through and went up 15-14. A few attack errors from the Majors, put the Vikings up 19-16. A kill from Jordan Skief increased the lead to 20-16 and they never looked back from there.

·         The Majors scored the first two points of set two, another attack error, kill from Molly Bergin and service ace from Emily Rapach put the Vikings back on top. The Vikings ultimately secured the set 25-21.

·         The Vikings took set three 25-22 and completed the game with 35 kills and .207 hitting percentage.

·         Jazzy Innis led Berry with 11 kills and Jordan Skief had four blocks. Cyrena Bedoian had 11 assists and Laura Beier tallied 14 digs.

Game 2

·         Berry took set one 25-22 after falling 14-10 late in the set. A kill from Emily Rapach and Peyton Breissinger made it 16-12 in favor of the Majors, but Berry fought back and took the late lead 23-22. A kill from Jazzy Innis and attack error from Millsaps gave the Vikings set one.

·         Set two was pure domination from the Vikings, as they won it 25-10.

·         Millsaps responded with a 25-21 set win in the third set to force a fourth.

·         Berry defeated Millsaps 25-19 in the fourth set to take game two, 3-1.

·         The Vikings finished with 53 kills. Breissinger led with 15 kills, Innis with three aces, Zoe Wooten with five blocks, Rapach with 37 assists and Beier with 24 digs.
