A day after they were unable to get their offense going, the Berry women's basketball team was able to put the ball in the hole, but it still wasn't enough as the Vikings were handed a 65-52 defeat Saturday by Brevard in the final game of the Mountaintop Madness hosted by Covenant in Lookout Mountain, Ga.
The loss gives Berry a 1-3 record heading into their home opener Tuesday night at the Cage when the Vikings host non-conference opponent Wesleyan for a 6 p.m. tip off.
Against Brevard, the Vikings broke out to a 23-20 halftime lead but saw the Tornadoes storm back, outscoring Berry 23-14 in the third quarter to take a 43-37 advantage into the final period where they remained in control.
Kristin Hunt was the lone player in double figures for Berry, which connected on 30 percent of its shots, finishing the day with 13 points.
Kennedy Moore, who was named to the All-Tournament team, led the Vikings with six rebounds.
