ROME, Ga. — The Berry College baseball team fought to a doubleheader split on the opening day of the 2020 Berry Baseball Invitational, defeating UW-Oshkosh 3-0 and falling to Adrian 2-1. On the year, Berry sits at 9-4 overall.

In game one, Berry's Ben Coker tossed a complete game shutout fanning nine hitters. Coker continues to lead the SAA with a 5-0 record. The Vikings opened scoring in the third inning with a Tyler Calvert RBI single and a Quinn Smith ground out. Calvert hit another RBI single in the fifth inning to put Berry up 3-0. 

Against Adrian,Garrett West took the tough-luck loss, throwing 7.1 innings with six strikeouts and two earned runs. The Bulldogs went ahead in the fourth inning 1-0 before Dalton Smith sent an RBI single to center field in the fifth inning to tie the game. Adrian went ahead late in the game with an RBI single to lead 2-1. With two outs in the bottom of the ninth, Dalton Turnbow sent a ball to the right field warning track for the final out of the game. 

Berry returns to action on Saturday against Denison at 4:00 p.m.
