Box Score ROME, Ga. — The No. 5 Berry College volleyball team had no trouble opening the season 1-0 in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA), as they took care of the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels in straight sets on Wednesday night.
With the win, Berry is now 9-2 on the year.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Oglethorpe led 9-7 in the opening set, but the Vikings scored nine of the next 10 points to go ahead 16-10 and never looked back. The team secured the opening set 25-15 thanks to a .455 hitting percentage.
- The Vikings took set two 25-13 again thanks to a ridiculous .452 efficiency.
- Several Vikings saw time off the bench in the third set, which Berry secured 25-20 to earn the sweep.
- Carson VanCampen was again dominant, earning 16 kills for a .640 kill percentage and three blocks. Her 16 kills in three sets is the fourth-most in Berry history.
