Box Score ROME, Ga. — The Berry College baseball team secured a series sweep of the Oglethorpe University Stormy Petrels on Sunday afternoon, led by a complete game shutout from freshman pitcher Garrett West.
The victory pushes Berry's record to 18-6 overall and a conference-best 7-2 record. The Vikings hold a one game lead over Hendrix in the SAA.
West's win was his third of the year. He went a complete 9.0 shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out a career-high seven batters.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Berry plated two in the first inning. Zack Walch scored on a wild pitch before a Zach Huie ground out scored Reeve Holley.
- Devin Post then added a sacrifice fly in the fourth and sixth innings to give Berry the 4-0 advantage.
- West threw a no-hitter after the fourth inning, keeping the Oglethorpe offense in check.
