DEMOREST, Ga. - The Berry College softball team improved to a perfect 6-0 on the year, as they defeated both Averett University and Greensboro College, 6-1 and 3-0, respectively, on Friday night.
GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS:
• The Vikings opened up scoring against Averett in the top of the second inning, as both Kassie Howard and Callahan Baker added RBI singles up the middle to give Berry a 2-0 lead.
• Bayleigh Masterson then homered down the left field line to move the lead to 3-0 in the top of the third inning.
• Howard added her second single of the night that same inning, driving in Elisabeth Federici and expanding the lead to 4-0.
• Masterson singled in the top of the fifth to bring in Kylie Aiken and push the score to 5-0 before Averett plated their sole run of the game in the bottom of that same inning.
• A seventh inning RBI double to left field by Aiken ensured the Vikings' 6-1 victory in game one.
• Howard earned the win for Berry, striking out 10 batters, while allowing just two hits.
GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS:
• Brittany Tuttle opened Berry's scoring against Greensboro in the bottom of the third inning. Her sacrifice fly to center field scored Makenzie Flynt and gave Berry their first 1-0 lead of the contest.
• The Vikings then plated the final two runs of the contest in the bottom of the sixth inning to expand their lead to 3-0.
• Makayley Cain drove in Bayleigh Masterson with an RBI single, and Tuttle then scored on a Greensboro error to ensure the 3-0 victory.
• Flynt earned the win in the contest for Berry, striking out nine batters while allowing only two hits.
