Box Score BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The No. 16 Berry College volleyball team dropped their final regular-season Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup of the year on Saturday afternoon, falling to the Birmingham-Southern College Panthers 3-0.
The Vikings are now 19-3 overall and close the year 13-1 in the SAA, having already secured the No. 1 seed and hosting rights in the SAA tournament. BSC improved to 19-5 and 12-2 in the SAA, locking up the No. 2 seed.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Vikings dropped the opening set 25-17 in a strong offensive set for both sides. Each squad hit above .250 for the set, but Berry was unable to overcome a six-point deficit late in the game.
- BSC controlled set two 25-17. Berry only hit .081 as the Panthers led by as much as nine points.
- Berry once again fell behind in the middle of the third set by eight. BSC then went on a run late to seal the sweep.
- The Panthers recorded seven service aces and six blocks.
- Emily Hancock collected 15 kills, hitting .237 with nine digs.
