CLAREMONT, Calif. – The Vikings scored in four of the nine innings, but the Berry College baseball team fell to Claremont-Mudd-Scripps 7-5 on Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Kris Patel flew out to center field in the top of the second inning to score Devin Skelton and give the Vikings their only lead of the game.
- Claremont then added five runs in the bottom of the second inning off of a Viking error, followed by a fielder's choice double play and a two-run homer by Chase Eller.
- Alfred Francis then tripled in the top of the third inning to score Austin Brooks and move the score to 5-2.
- Francis scored in the top of the same inning off of a wild pitch to cut the lead to 5-3.
- Claremont's Evan Opperman added an RBI single down the left field line in the bottom of the fourth inning to push the score to 6-3.
- Casey Whitaker then added an RBI apiece in the top of both the sixth and eighth innings, but the deficit was too great, as the Vikings fell 7-5.

NOTABLES:
- Berry is now 12-10 overall on the year.
- Claremont-M-S is 8-9.
- On the day, Berry outhit Claremont 10-9, and the Vikings committed only one error to Claremont's two.
- J.T. Eggert (1-2) took the loss on the mound for Berry, tossing two innings, while allowing five hits and five runs.
