MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — The Berry College baseball team improved to 4-3 against the Emory & Henry Wasps after sweeping the twin bill with 9-1 and 5-2 finals.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 1):
- The Vikings opened up scoring in game one in the bottom of the second inning, off of an RBI single from McTier Mosely to score Kris Patel. They closed out the inning with another run by Austin Brooks to raise the score to 2-0.
- In the bottom of the third inning, the Vikings extended the lead to 6-0 after a pair of errors and RBIs from Patel, Mosley and Guzi.
- The Wasps added to the board in the top of the fourth inning after a sacrifice fly by Carson Bryant.
- The Vikings then scored three more runs in the bottom of the sixth inning. Devin Skelton tripled earning 2 RBIs bringing Austin Haight and Zach Guzi home. Dylan Beasley earned the final RBI of the game, bringing home Skelton.
- Ben Coker earned the game one win, tossing 5.0 innings allowing two hits, no earned runs and striking out six. Garrett Butler took the loss for the Wasps.
HOW IT HAPPENED (GAME 2):
- In game two, the Vikings scored early with a run by Austin Haight, brought in by Devin Skelton on a single to left.
- In the bottom of the fifth, Alfred Francis, pinch hitting for Dylan Beasley, doubled to centerfield earning an RBI leading Jacob Delk to score.
- In the bottom of the sixth, Tyler Calvert singled to left and earned 2 RBIs, scoring Slade Dale and Jake Crandon. Devin Post then hit a sacrifice fly to right field, scoring Tyler Calvert.
- Ross French then shot a single to left in the top of the seventh to score the Wasps' first run of the game. They would add one more before William Gibbons would be called upon to earn his third save of the year.
