Volleyball Sweeps Centre, Improves to 11-4

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Vikings volleyball team improved to 11-4 on the year and sit tied at second in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) at 4-1 after a sweep of Centre College at home. 

The Vikings continue to impress behind conference leaders Jessica Gum (162 kills, .338 hitting percentage), Katie Truluck (286 digs, 5.40 digs/set) and Hannah Kate Thompson (10.00 assists/set).

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Vikings set the tone early, jumping out to a 25-18 set one victory after hitting .229 as a team.
  • Berry's front row was dominant, racking up 42 kills and 12 blocks in the win
  • Reigning SAA Offensive Player of the Week, Emily Hancock led the team in kills with 14 on .324 hitting percentage

  • Hannah Kate Thompson: 33 assists, 7 digs, 2 blocks
  • Katie Truluck: 12 digs, 4 assists
  • Jessica Gum: 6 kills, 1 ace, 1 dig, 3 blocks

  • The Vikings have three of the top players in the SAA in Jessica Gum, Katie Truluck and Hannah Kate Thompson, all leading their respective statistical categories.
  • Katie Truluck inches closer to the Berry career digs record, now needing fewer than 100
  • The Vikings have won three straight and are tied with BSC for second in the SAA, Hendrix is first at 5-0 in conference play.
