Men's Soccer Falls to Emory 2-1

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Steven Moore scored the lone Viking goal of the game as the Berry College men's soccer team fell to Emory University 2-1 under the lights on Friday night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The Eagles' Cody Gardiner opened the game with a goal in the 30th minute.
  • Moore then opened second half scoring with a tally in the 50th minute to move the score to 1-1.
  • The game remained tied, 1-1, until the 71st minute when Emory's Jason McCartney scored the go-ahead goal.
  • Emory bested Berry in shots, 13-11, while the Vikings led the game in corner kicks, 5-3.

  • Steven Moore: 5 shots, 2 shots on goal, 1 goal
  • Graham Wall: 1 shot, 1 shot on goal, 1 assist
  • Jake Doiron: 4 saves

NOTABLES:

  • The contest was the first game under the lights on the newly renamed Bob Pearson Field for the men's soccer team.
  • Moore added his third goal in 2 games for the Vikings.
  • Over 400 fans "Packed the House" for the event.
  • Berry moves to 4-2 on the year.
