Volleyball Ends Marcia French Tournament with Split

BEREA, Ohio - The Berry College volleyball team split on Saturday to end their play in the Marcia French Tournament. The Vikings fell to Mount Union, 3-2, to open the day and then finished with a 3-0 win over Baldwin Wallace.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

• Mount Union held on to defeat Berry in five sets (22-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 11-15).
• The Vikings rebounded, defeating Baldwin Wallace without losing a single set (25-15, 26-24, 25-23).

• Jessica Gum: 35 kills, 2 digs
• Christina Goforth: 22 kills, 4 digs
• Hannah Kate Thompson: 51 assists, 14 digs, 6 kills
• Katie Truluck: 37 digs
• Jordan Leitch: 34 assists, 4 digs, 2 kills

MOUNT UNION STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

• Mallory Sliman: 16 kills, 2 digs
• Caitlyn Synek: 12 kills, 4 digs
• Riley Schenk: 35 assists, 5 kills

BALDWIN WALLACE STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

• Ellen Hawkins: 9 kills, 7 digs
• Nikolette Scruggs: 8 kills, 3 blocks
• Ashley Nuding: 13 digs

NOTABLES:
• Berry ended the day with 103 kills, 94 assists and 112 digs and setter Hannah Kate Thompson was named to the All-Tournament team


UP NEXT:

The Vikings will take on Oglethorpe University to open Southern Athletic Association play on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. in Atlanta.
