Box Score 2 ATLANTA -- The Berry College baseball team earned a conference split at Oglethorpe on Saturday. The Stormy Petrels captured game one, 10-3. The Vikes won the nightcap, 11-7.
Berry is now 22-9 and 8-6 in Southern Athletic Association play. OU moved to 15-14 and 6-8 in the SAA.
The Vikings produced a big final inning rally to earn the split. BC plated seven runs in the top of the seventh inning to earn the 11-7 victory in game two. Devin Post and Dusty Tyson both had doubles, which scored two runs in the inning.
BC outhit the Petrels 12-9 in the contest. Austin Haight was 3-of-5, scored twice, and had one RBI for the Vikings. Slade Dale and Jacob Delk each had two hits in the game.
John Melson (1-1) earned the win after tossing a scoreless sixth inning. He relieved starter Ben Jernigan, who allowed six runs (two earned). JP Chamblee threw the final inning for the visitors.
Austin Ferlitta went 3-of-4 with a triple--and home run--for Oglethorpe.
The teams close their three-game series on Sunday at noon in Atlanta.
