ROME, Ga. -- The Vikings racked up nine hits, but the Berry College baseball team lost to Covenant College, 9-4, on Tuesday night.
The loss dropped the Vikes to 25-15 overall. The Scots improved to 21-17.
Three players had two hits in the loss: Dusty Tyson, Austin Haight and Hunter White.
Brady Smith, Slade Dale and Grant Perkins rounded out the BC offense with one hit apiece.
Leo Narrison knocked in the only Berry RBI of the game.
The Vikings opened the game with a run in the bottom of the first inning. The Scots then added four runs in the top of the third inning to go ahead 4-1.
Berry tied the game with three runs in the bottom of the fourth but never gained the lead. Scoring one and four runs in the sixth and eighth innings respectively, Covenant ensured the victory, ending the game with 13 hits on the night.
Luke Harvey led the Scots' offense, batting 3-for-5 at the plate with one run scored.
Ten pitchers threw on the mound for the Vikings in the loss. Austin Loper (0-1) earned the loss, allowing two hits and one run in his one inning of work.
BC travels to Birmingham, Alabama for the SAA tournament on Friday, April 22. The Vikes will play Millsaps in the first round.
