ROME, Ga. – The Berry College softball team outhit Hendrix College, 8-1, on Sunday afternoon as the Vikings defeated the Warriors, 5-2.
The win was the 13th in a row for BC, improving them to 13-1 overall and a perfect 6-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. Hendrix fell to 4-10 and 1-5.
Sarah Moore led the Viking offense with two hits on the afternoon. Moore was 2-for-3 and knocked in an RBI in the win.
Five other players contributed hits in the win: Brittany Ferrell, Brittany Tuttle, Marie Collop, Ally Claytor and Kaitlin Seger.
Collop and Kylie Aiken each added RBIs for BC as well.
Berry scored all five of their runs before Hendrix crossed the plate for the first time in the seventh inning.
Kassie Howard (8-0) earned the complete-game win on the mound. Howard was just one out away from her second consecutive no-hitter. She allowed only one hit and two earned runs, striking out seven in the process.
For the Warriors, Karli Sewell had the only hit of the game, knocking in Hendrix's two runs in the top of the seventh.
BC travles to LaGrange, Georgia to take on LaGrange College in their next game on Wednesday, March 9 at 7 p.m.
