Box Score 2 ROME, Ga. -- The Berry College softball team swept a Southern Athletic Association doubleheader from Hendrix on Saturday. Game scores were 3-0 and 8-0 in five innings for the second contest.
In game one, Kassie Howard had a dominating performance in the pitching circle. She improved to 7-0 after recording her second no-hitter of the season. Additionally, Howard broke her own school record with 14 strikeouts.
Marie Collop went 2-for-3 with a home run to lead Viking hitters. Kylie Aiken, Howard and Kenzie Fleming all had a double.
In the nightcap, Maggie Piety had a pinch-hit single in the bottom of the fifth inning to scored Kayla Sangrey. The contest ended after Berry reached 8-0.
Brittany Ferrell, Brittany Tuttle and Sarah Moore all collected two hits in the game. The Vkes had a 2-0 lead and plated five runs in the fourth frame to pad the lead.
Allie Coronado (4-1) tossed a complete game shutout for the home club. She allowed only two hits and struck out five Warriors.
The Vikings and Warriors close their three-game series on Sunday. First pitch is 12 p.m. at Ford Field.
