ROME, Ga. -- The Berry College baseball team defeated Rhodes College twice on Friday. Game scores were 7-2 and 2-0.
The wins improved the Vikings to 20-8 overall and 6-5 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Lynx fell to 15-12 and 6-5.
Brady Smith and Alfred Francis led the BC offense in game one with three hits apiece. They knocked in two and one RBI respectively.
Dusty Tyson and Slade Dale each tallied two hits in the win as well.
BC scored three runs in the bottom of the third inning to open the game, and they never trailed again.
Bill Munson had three hits for Rhodes in the loss.
TJ Montgomery (5-2) earned the win on the mound. He threw six innings, allowing only six hits and no runs.
Devin Skelton led the BC offense in the nightcap, knocking in the sole RBIs of the game. Skelton hit a double in the bottom of the sixth inning to ensure the 2-0 victory.
Five other Vikings added a hit in the win: Tyson, Francis, Dale, Smith and Devin Post.
Ben Jernigan (3-2) earned the win for BC. Jernigan tossed all seven innings, allowing only three hits while striking out four.
The Vikings will finish the three-game series against the Lynx tomorrow at 1 p.m.
