Baseball Drops Doubleheader at Centre

DANVILLE, Ky. -- The Berry College baseball team dropped a doubleheader at Centre College on Saturday. In game one, Centre prevailed 10-6. The Colonels captured the nightcap, 6-5, in 12 innings.

Berry is now 16-8 and 3-5 in the Southern Athletic Association. Centre moved to 12-8, 3-5.

The teams combined for 28 hits in game one, with the Vikings recording 13. Devin Post went 3-for-5 with a double and three RBI. Ben Jernigan was 3-of-4 at the plate for BC. Alfred Francis added two singles for the Vikes.

Starting pitcher TJ Montgomery (4-2) went five innings, allowed six earned runs and 10 hits. J.T. Eggert tossed the final three frames for Berry.

Centre starter Trevor Brewer allowed one run in six innings and earned the victory. Greyson Evans went 2-for-5 with a home run and five RBI to lead Colonel hitters.

In the second game, Grant Perkins went 4-for-6 to lead the Viking offense. Hunter White recorded two of Berry's 11 hits in the contest.

Wesley Jorette's single scored Zach Montgomery for the game-winning run off BC reliever John Melson (0-1) in the bottom of the 12th. Ben Jernigan started for Berry.

The teams conclude their three-game SAA series on Sunday.
