Berry Baseball Splits DH with Hendrix

ROME, Ga. – The Berry College baseball team split with Hendrix College on Friday afternoon. Game scores were 12-0 and 2-6.

The games moved the Vikings to 15-5 overall and 3-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Warriors are 8-9 and 3-2.

Dusty Tyson led BC at the plate in game one, hitting 3-for-3 on the day. Tyson also scored three runs for the Vikes in the win.

Alfred Francis, Jacob Delk and Brady Smith each added two hits as well. Smith homered in the win.

Francis, Slade Dale and Ben Jernigan each knocked in a pair of RBIs.

The Vikings outhit the Warriors, 14-2, in game one, finishing the game with six runs in the bottom of the seventh.

TJ Montgomery (4-1) earned the complete-game shutout on the mound for Berry. Montgomery allowed only two hits and one walk, striking out three in the outing.

For Hendrix, Davis Page and Tanner Cooper added the only hits in the loss.

Berry fell in the nightcap, 6-2.

Francis, Dale, Jernigan, Tyson and Devin Skelton were the only Vikings to record hits in the loss.

The Warriors jumped out to an early lead, and the Vikings worked from behind for the entire game.

Trey Rampy (3-2) took the loss on the mound for Berry. Rampy pitched four innings for the Vikings. He allowed seven hits and three earned runs, striking out two in the loss.

For Hendrix, Will Nichol (2-1) earned the complete-game win. Nichol allowed only four hits and struck out four Vikings.

Hendrix and Berry return to William R. Bowdoin Field tomorrow for the final game of the series. First pitch is at 12 p.m.
