Baseball Takes Rubber Game at Sewanee, 12-2, on Sunday

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- Dusty Tyson had three hits as the Berry College baseball team defeated Sewanee, 12-2, on Sunday to take the rubber game of the SAA conference series.

The win improved the Vikes to 12-1 overall and 2-1 in the Southern Athletic Association. The loss dropped the Tigers to 1-13 and 1-2. 

Tyson was 3-for-5 at the plate. He knocked in three runs and scored twice to lead the BC offense. Tyson and Brady Smith had a homer in the win. 

Alfred Francis, Slade Dale, Smith and Grant Perkins recorded two hits apiece for Berry.

TJ Montgomery (3-0) earned the win on the mound for the Vikings. He pitched six innings, allowed eight hits and only two runs. Tyler Will and JP Chamblee shared a scoreless seventh inning for Berry.

For the Tigers, Jackson Cooper had three hits in the loss. 

Berry outhit Sewanee (12-9) in the contest.

The Vikings host Emory University in their next game on Tuesday, March 1. Game time is 5 p.m. and is "Pack the House" for Berry baseball.
