Men's Soccer Ends Season with 4-1 Loss to Millsaps in Semifinals

ATLANTA – Dale Stones scored the lone Vikings goal of the game as the Berry College men's soccer team fell to the Majors of Millsaps College, 4-1, on Friday afternoon in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) quarterfinal match to round out their season.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Millsaps' Jan Bergk scored the first goal of the game in the 12th minute, giving the Majors an early, 1-0, lead.
  • Tore Schutt then scored off a pass from Gabriel Ryce in the 13th minute to push the score to, 2-0.
  • Stones found the back of the net less than ten minutes later, adding the only Berry goal of the game in the 19th minute off a pass from JT Kieffer.
  • The Majors added two more tallies before the end of the game, ensuring their, 4-1, victory.
  • Millsaps led the game in shots (15-13) and corner kicks (7-3).

  • Stones: 2 shots, 1 shot on goal, 1 goal
  • Kieffer: 1 shot, 1 shot on goal, 1 assist
  • Carson Oakes: 5 saves

  • Bergk: 2 shots, 2 shots on goal, 1 goal
  • Ryce: 1 assist 

NOTABLES:

  • The Vikings finish their season at 10-9 overall, tied for third in the SAA.
  • Daniel Shaw was named to the All-Tournament Team
  • With the win, Millsaps will advance to the SAA Tournament Championship.
