Men's Soccer Advances to SAA Semifinal with 2-0 Win Over Rhodes

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – JT Kieffer and Steven Moore each tallied once, as the Berry College men's soccer team defeated Rhodes College, 2-0, in a Southern Athletic Association conference quarter-final match on Saturday afternoon.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The score remained tied at, 0-0, going into the second half.
  • Kieffer's 56-minute goal gave the Vikings their first lead of the game.
  • Moore then found the back of the net in the 83rd minute to ensure the, 2-0, Viking win.
  • The Lynx outshot the Vikings 13 -11, while eight of Berry's shots were on goal to Rhodes' six. 
  • Rhodes also added five corner kicks to Berry's 2.

BERRY STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Kieffer: 1 shot, 1 shot on goal, 1 goal
  • Moore: 3 shots, 3 shots on goal, 1 goal
  • Dale Stones: 2 shots, 1 shot on goal
  • Carson Oakes: 4 saves

RHODES STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Bowen Burdette: 3 shots, 1 shot on goal
  • William Mitchell: 2 shots, 1 shot on goal
  • Mark Robinson: 2 shots, 1 shot on goal
  • Patrick Wilkerson: 6 saves, 2 goals allowed

NOTABLES:

  • The Vikings improve to 9-8 overall on the season, advancing to the SAA tournament semi-final match.
  • The Lynx end their season at 8-8-1 overall.
