Volleyball Defeats Regionally-Ranked Susquehanna, Washington & Lee

ATLANTA - The Viking's volleyball team traveled to Atlanta today to play in the Emory University Invitational, which hosted six regionally ranked teams.

Berry opened tournament play with 3-1 wins over Susquehanna University and Washington & Lee University.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • Emily Hancock led the Vikings with 30 kills and 44 digs.
  • Between the two matches, Berry added 89 kills, 196 digs, 28 blocks and 77 assists.
  • Set scores against Susquehanna were 27-25, 21-25, 25-22 and 25-20.
  • Set scores against Washington & Lee were 25-16, 18-25, 25-21 and 25-23

BERRY STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Hancock: 30 kills, 44 digs, 3 blocks
  • Jessica Gum: 16 kills, 9 digs, 9 blocks
  • Christina Goforth: 18 kills, 5 digs, 4 blocks
  • Hannah Kate Thompson: 63 assists, 13 digs, 4 kills
  • Katie Truluck: 55 digs
  • Hannah Billiard: 17 blocks

SUSQUEHANNA STATISTICAL STADOUTS:

  • Morgan Lowe: 24 kills, 2 service aces, 16 digs
  • Maggie O'Hearn: 49 assists, 15 digs
  • Erin Byrne: 13 kills, 4 digs
  • Caroline Beohm: 25 digs

WASHINGTON AND LEE STATISTICAL STANDOUTS:

  • Meg Guignon: 17 kills, 11 digs, 2 assists
  • Anna Soroka: 15 assists, 7 digs, 3 kills
  • Ashleigh Meade: 24 digs
  • Allison Webb: 16 digs, 7 kills

NOTEABLES:

  • The Vikings are now 20-8 on the season.
  • Susquehanna fell to 27-5.
  • Washington & Lee fell to 21-6.

UP NEXT:

  • Berry will play two more matches Saturday, finishing out the Emory National Invitational. At 1:00 they will take on Randolph-Macon and then end the day with a match against Emory at 3:00.
