Women's Soccer upends Brooklyn, 5-1

ROME, Ga. -- With goals from five different players, the Berry College women's soccer team upended visiting Brooklyn College, 5-1, on Sunday afternoon. 

The win improved the Vikings to 4-2-1. The loss dropped the Bulldogs to 2-5-2.

Samantha Schoppy put BC ahead in the ninth minute when she tallied on Maggie Midkiff's rebounded shot.

Megan Radosta added a goal in the 25th minute. She broke past the keeper and scored off a long pass from Joanna Logan.

Logan and Meridith Beretta then scored, putting the Vikes ahead, 4-0. Logan's goal came off a low pass in front of the goal from Michala Bibbins. Berretta followed with an unassisted tally of her own.

Right before the close of the first half, Kenia Bravo scored Brooklyn's only goal of the game. She scored off of a corner kick from Jordan Kerwin to make the score to 4-1.

In the 64th minute, Michaela Routh scored the final goal of the game. She dribbled and turned off a pass from Arlena Joyner.

BC led the game in both corner kicks (10-1) and shots (31-1).

For the Bulldogs, Rebecca Hamata collected 13 saves in the loss. Melissa Sanchez earned the complete game win for the Vikes.

Berry will travel to Atlanta, Ga. on Monday, Sept. 28, for their rescheduled match-up against Southern Athletic Association competitor Oglethorpe. Game time is 4 p.m.
