BC Volleyball Beat Centre and Covenant on Saturday

DANVILLE, Ky. —Berry College volleyball bested both Centre and Covenant in Kentucky on Saturday. The 21st ranked Vikings improved to 12-3 and 3-1 in the Southern Athletic Association.

The Vikings beat host Centre, 3-0, in the first match of the day. Set scores were 25-21, 25-14, 25-23.

Jessica Gum led the team in kills with 15. Lauren Schmitz had seven kills and 26 assists. Katie Truluck notched 25 digs for BC.

The Vikings hit .192 to the Colonels' .072. Berry led in blocks, 8-5. For Centre, Beth Cecil had 11 kills.

In a non-conference/neutral site match, Berry beat Covenant 3-1 (25-22, 25-21, 23-25, 25-23).

Gum posted 12 kills and Schmitz dished 36 more assists. Truluck collected 21 and Rachel Ford added 15 digs for Berry.

BC led CC in blocks, 21-12. The Vikes had the edge in hitting percentage, .154 to .126.

"We are happy to get two solid wins on the road," Vikings' Head Coach Mika Robinson said. "Our serving game was very strong today, and we played great floor defense. We again did a great job staying composed in tight, end-of-game situations."

The Vikings will be in Sewanee for their next match at 3 p.m. on Sunday
