Sewanee, Tenn.—The Berry College Vikings (18-5, 9-2 SAA) swept the four game weekend series against the Sewanee Tigers (0-14, 0-12 SAA). The Vikings took the Sunday doubleheader after defeating the Tigers, 21-0, in both games.
In the first game, the offense clicked for BC by collecting 21 hits and 21 runs. Ally Claytor led Berry by going 3-for-3, collecting four RBIs. Claytor connected with a triple, double, and a single. Allison DeBusk showed her strength by knocking two home runs in the game.
Marie Collop pitched the shutout game by going all five innings. Collop gave up one hit and struck out 9 Tigers.
Shayla Candergriff provided the only offense for Sewanee with a base hit and a walk.
For the second game, Berry kept their momentum going by tacking on 24 hits.
DeBusk continued her streak by going 4-for-4 with another home run and a double. She drove in three RBIs and scored four times. Maggie Piety collected a pair of doubles while knocking a grand slam in the top of the second inning. MacKenzie Tuttle joined in by going 3-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs.
Kassie Howard continued her hot streak of pitching by going the complete game shutout. She allowed one hit without a walk and striking out ten batters.
For the Tigers, Courtney Saunders found the only base hit for her team.
Berry returns home on April 1 at 1 and 3 p.m. to host the Emory Eagles.
