Softball sweeps at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. -- The Berry College softball team swept a doubleheader at Sewanee on Saturday. Game scores were 21-0 and 20-0--both in five innings.

The Vikings improved to 16-5 and 7-2 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Tigers fell to 0-12 and 0-10 in the SAA.

In the first game, Berry collected 20 hits to Sewanee's 4. Elizabeth Fedrici had a monster game and led the BC offense. She went 4-for-4 with 2 doubles and 4 RBI. Sarah Moore went 3-of-4 with 2 doubles and 5 RBI. Allison DeBusk had 3 hits, 2 of them being doubles.

Pitcher Kayla Davis earned the shutout and is now 2-1 on the year. She allowed 4 hits, struck out 4 and walked none.

In game 2 the Vikings out-hit Sewanee, 22-3. Freshmen Brittany Tuttle and Maggie Piety paced the offense with 3 hits apiece. Piety had 2 doubles and 4 RBI. MacKenzie Tuttle went 2-for-5 and scored 4 runs for BC.

Allie Coronado got the win in the pitching circle for the Vikes. She allowed 3 hits in the 5-inning shutout.

The teams play another doubleheader on Sunday in Sewanee.
