ROME, Ga.—Berry College (4-2) swept Maryville College (1-5) in the double header on Saturday afternoon. The Vikings took the first game 5-3, and BC won the second game 4-3 with a walk-off double in eighth inning.
In the first game, Sarah Moore led the charge by going 2-for-4 with a pair of singles and RBIs. Rachel Bartoe added a pair of base hits and scored twice for the Vikings. Brittany Ferrell and Kylie Aiken each contributed a single and a run.
Allie Coronado went four innings but left the game tied at 3-3. Coronado allowed three hits and three runs. Kassie Howard finished the last three innings without giving up a run on just two hits. Howard struck out five while only walking one.
Megan Mihaliak led the Scots by going 1-for-3 with a RBI and a run. Caitlyn Hogg knocked the only double of the game for either team.
In the second game, Bartoe and Aiken led the offense with a single and a double as well as a RBI each. Ferrell added a double and single to help BC.
Bartoe drove in the tying run in the eighth inning by crushing a ball down the right field line. In the following at bat, Aiken doubled to deep center field to plate the game winning run to give the Vikings the 4-3 walk-offvictory.
Hogg led Maryville by going 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and a single. Tiffany Brand added a single and a run.
Berry will travel to Birmingham-Southern to face the Panthers in a four game series starting on March 7th at 1 p.m. EST.
