Vikes split twin-bill at Huntingdon

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Berry College softball team split a doubleheader at Huntingdon on Saturday. The Hawks captured game one, 3-2, while the Vikings prevailed in the nightcap, 13-0 in 5 innings.

Following the twin-bill, Berry is 2-2. HC is now 3-1 on the season.

In game one, the Hawks held off the Vikings, 3-2.  HC plated its 3 runs in the fourth inning. The Vikings left 12 runners on base in the game. BC had the tying run on base in the final inning, but could not score.

BC outhit the Hawks, 7-6. Brittany Ferrell and Kylie Aiken both collected 2 hits for the Vikes. Berry starter Kayla Davis pitched all 6 innings and took the loss. She allowed 6 hits, struck out 4 batters and surrendered no walks.

In the second game, BC tallied 6 runs in the first and third innings en-route to a 13-0 result.

Sarah Moore went 2-4 with a double, 2 runs scored and 4 RBI. Brittany Tuttle added 2 hits and Maggie Piety knocked a 3-run pinch-hit home run.

Kassie Howard earned the win in pitching circle. She scattered 3 hits over 5 innings, struck out 6 Hawks and walked 1 batter.

The Vikings travel to Raleigh, N.C. next Saturday to face William Peace and Neumann.
