Mount Berry, Ga. -- Hendrix College defeated Berry 3-2 in the NCAA Division III Regional Semifinals on Friday night. Set scores were 18-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-16 and 15-11.
The loss brings an end to the Vikings' year at 25-6. The 27-8 Warriors advance to play Emory University in the regional championship on Saturday night.
"I am just really proud of our team," said Head Coach Mika Robinson. "They battled all the way through. I think there were moments when we played some of the best volleyball that we've played all year. We played together and they just battled against a really good Hendrix team."
Lauren Schmitz led with 30 assists and had a .292 hitting percentage. Schmitz, Jessica Gum, and Christina Goforth each had nine kills for the Vikings. Katie Truluck collected 27 digs in the loss.
MC Rogers had 20 kills for the Warriors. Felecia Beeman added 36 digs for Hendrix.
"I think my teammates played amazing; I couldn't have asked for anything more," Beeman said.
Hendrix hit .126 to Berry's .050.
Second-seeded Hendrix will take on first-ranked Emory tomorrow in the NCAA Regional Championship match at 7 p.m.
