Volleyball Knocks Off First Place Warriors, 3-0

CONWAY, Ark.— The Berry College Volleyball team overtook Hendrix 3-0 on Friday. Set scores were 25-22, 25-23, and 25-13.  

The win improves the Vikings to 17-5 and 8-3 in the SAA. Hendrix, which suffered its first conference loss, dropped to 16-7, 10-1.

The Vikings posted 18 blocks to none for the Warriors. Jessica Gum had 10 blocks and Katie O'Rourke added eight for the Vikes. Both O'Rourke and Gum had seven kills.   

Christina Goforth's defense also aided the Vikings' victory, as she finished the day with 20 digs. Lauren Schmitz had 27 assists, 15 digs and eight blocks. 

"I am really proud of our effort tonight," said Berry Head Coach Milka Robinson. "Throughout the entire match we stayed focused, disciplined and aggressive. We really could not have executed our game plan any better. We look forward to continuing to improve in every aspect of the game as we keep moving forward."

For Hendrix, Lauren Petrisin added eight kills.  

The Vikings will take on Rhodes in Memphis, Tenn. at 4 p.m. on Saturday.
