LEXINGTON, Ky. -- Berry College volleyball dropped two matches at the Transylvania Tournament on Saturday. The Vikes fell to Millikin (3-2) and to Juniata (3-0) to close play at the tournament.

In the Millikin match, BC raced out to a 2-0 lead before falling by set scores of 23-25, 22-25, 31-29, 25-16 and 16-14. Hometown Viking Emily Stromberg notched 19 kills and had 17 digs for Berry. Anna Keappler and Katie O'Rourke recorded 14 and 11 kills respectively.

Against perennial Division III power Juniata, the Vikes fell 26-24, 25-23 and 25-17. JC improved to 6-0 with the win. Meredith Hopper paced the offense with 10 kills and Katie Truluck posted a match-best 14 digs.

"While we are disappointed in the final outcomes, I couldn't be prouder of our team's efforts today," said Berry Head Coach Mika Robinson. "After an incredibly fast turnaround after last night, we continued to play aggressively, and with heart, today. This team grew in big ways this weekend, and this experience will reap big benefits during conference and in November."

The Vikings (2-6) travel to the CNU Tournament in Newport News, Virginia next weekend. Berry opens the tourney with a match vs. Mount Union on Friday at 4 p.m.
