Women's soccer defeated LaGrange, 8-0

ROME, Ga - - Berry College defeated LaGrange College on Wednesday afternoon to post their sixth shutout of the year.

Maggie Midkiff dominated on offense for the Vikings, scoring four goals and adding one assist in the win. Celia Dann and Hailey Hendrickson sparked the offense as well with one goal and one assist each.

The victory improved the Vikings' record to 6-2 on the year and dropped the Panthers to 4-4.

The first goal of the game came in the eighth minute when Tessa Piety assisted Midkiff. She finished through and found the right corner of the goal. The second goal came in the 21st minute as Rachel LeRoy passed a long ball down the field and Midkiff followed it into the goal.

Michaela Routh found the back of the net on a good drop pass by Midkiff to add the third goal in the 34th minute. Midkiff then rounded off the first half with two more goals. The first coming off of a loose ball that Midkiff then fired at the goal twenty yards out, and the second coming off an assist from Ashley Moulton, as Midkiff found a strong finish through the low ball and helped BC finish the first half with a 5-0 lead.

Opening up the second half, Dann finished Hendrickson's hard shot that was saved by the goalkeeper, upping the score to 6-0. Dann then shot again and Sydney Sheppard finished with a goal off of the goalkeeper's next save. Finishing the scoring for the day, Hendrickson added a goal of her own in the 65th minute with a turnover off a goal kick, ending the game with a 8-0 victory for the Vikings.

Jackie McGivney started the game at goalkeeper and earned the win. Maggie Piety played the second half there and had one save on the day.

For LaGrange, Courney Slauson had three saves in the first half at goalkeeper. Carly Farrow then added five saves in the second half.

The Vikings travel to play Agnes Scott College on Wednesday, October 1, at 4 p.m.
