MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Berry College women's tennis advanced to the Southern Athletic Association final after beating Birmingham-Southern, 5-4, on Saturday. The Vikings improved to 17-1 and BSC dropped to 12-4. 

Berry took two of three doubles matches to have a one point edge heading to singles play.

With the match tied 4-4, Heidi Seabaugh won the decisive #6 singles match, 1-6, 6-3 and 6-2.

"It was very important that we got at least two of the doubles," said Head Coach Clay Hightower. "Mary and Lauren played great today and gave us a little momentum. Kaleigh and Heidi struggled at number 3; They didn't play well but did just enough at the right moments. 

In singles Mary stepped up and beat a tough opponent. Kaleigh did her thing as usual and wore her girl down. 4-4 with only Heidi left. She really started poorly and never did get comfortable on the court. She did find a way to win though, battling through some tough circumstances."

The match pitted the 11th (BSC) and 12th (Berry) ranked teams in the Atlantic. The two teams did not play in the regular season due to weather. The Vikings and Panthers tied for second in the SAA's reglular season.

Berry will face defending champion Sewanee in a rematch of last year's SAA final.
