Box Score ROME, Ga. -- Stephen Gaylor went 4-5 with one run, a stolen base and an RBI, but Berry College lost to visiting Emory University, 15-9, on Tuesday night.
The Vikings dropped to 19-9. Emory, ranked 30th nationally, moved to 21-9.
The game was tight through five innings. The Eagles held a 5-4 lead before plating five runs in the sixth, and then added four more in the seventh frame. BC added four runs in the bottom of the ninth for the final margin.
Both team had 13 hits in the contest. For Berry, Grant Perkins, TC Boyd and Alex McGill all collected two hits.
Brandon Hannon went 4-6 with three runs and three RBI to lead the Emory offense.
Glen Williamson (1-1) started and took the defeat for the home team. He allowed three runs and four hits in 4 2/3 innings. The Vikes had six hurlers take the mound and Zach Dutton worked a hitless ninth inning.
The Vikings host Hendrix in a Southern Athletic Association three-game series this weekend. The teams play a doubleheader beginning at 1 p.m. on Saturday.
